    Workshop/Prototype Technician

    DESCRIPTION

    The essential function of the position within the organization is to provide workshop and prototyping to our London Engineering teams. This is a new role and will involve providing critical support to all functions of our workshop and prototyping department as well as working directly with our engineering teams on critical projects.

    This will be a multi-functional role supporting the Workshop Manger in day to day operations in the areas of electrical safety, operating and maintenance of workshop equipment and rapid prototyping machines, product builds and safety testing.

    You will be a valued member of the engineering team. Ideally you will develop this role to become a critical member of our global team with the potential to gain expertise in new areas and skillsets.

    We operate a state-of-the-art facility which comprises of traditional workshop equipment alongside the latest in Rapid Prototyping and test facilities.

    PRIMARY DUTIES:

    Support the functions of the in-house workshop

    Maintain workshop facility and equipment

    Ensure equipment is in safe working condition

    Restock consumable items as required

    Support the functions of the in-house Rapid Prototyping facilities

    Oversee and maintain state-of-art Rapid Prototyping machines

    Determine scheduling of 3D prints using in-house tracking system

    Have an overview of maintenance and supplies of Rapid Prototyping machines

    Help in the development of technical workspaces within the London office

    Be a point of contact and knowledge for engineering teams when in-house facilities are being developed.

    Is accountable for providing adequate tools for the workshop and resupplying where needed

    Is accountable for maintenance of tools and equipment in the workshop

    Hands-on involvement in product builds, prototyping and testing

    Leads activities that better organize the workshop for efficient working

    Is always looking for new ways to organize equipment and tools in the workshop so engineers can find what they need. Tracks and monitors the performance of changes made. Gathers feedback.

    Looks for gaps in our capabilities and creates and implements solutions so our engineers can make more things, more easily

    Helps with training engineers so they can safely and efficiently use the equipment they need.

    Assists in building a vision for the workshop

    Co creates with the workshop manager a vision that will make the workshop a driving force for our innovation teams allowing them to make robust and consistent prototypes that facilitate good decision making.

    Builds and supports workstreams with the workshop manager that will deliver the vision.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    The ideal candidate will have at minimum HND or BSc in engineering, design or modelmaking or industry experience to the equivalent

    Previous background in engineering, design, modelmaking and electrical safety

    Working knowledge of Workshop equipment, Rapid Prototyping machines, Product assembly including electrical and mechanical skills

    CAD and 3D print software experience a bonus

    Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written along with good sound interpersonal skills

    Detail-oriented, versatile, organized, articulate and professional

    Desire to make a big impact and work independently
