  • You will have experience in planning and delivering impactful events and activities that are inclusive, accessible, and supportive.
  • You will have experience working with a diversity of people and with refugees, asylumseeking and New Scots. And be happy to put on events for adults, children and families.
  • Ideally, you will speak (or be willing to learn) Ukrainian, Russian or Arabic.
  • You will need a disclosure check and an understanding of safeguarding, although we can provide training in this if needed.
  • You will be able to work independently.
  • You are able collaboratively with all our teams and partners.

ABOUT THE ROLE:


As our Volunteer and Events Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with The Crichton teams, Massive Outpouring of Love (MOOL) and other partners.

You will provide high quality opportunities for our Volunteers and a range of events for the communities we support, predominantly operating from The Crichton.

You will be responsible for the following main areas:


PLANNING AND DELIVERY

  • Plan and develop a programme of activities that meet the needs of the Ukrainian community in the region. Ensuring content is suitable to the age, physical, emotional, and social ability of all participants and is in line with health and safety standards and community development principles;
  • Developing and maintaining a newsletter/method of effective communication and mailing list to enable people and partners to connect and find out about events and support across the region.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality sessions and events both in person and where necessary online;
  • Development and implementation of partnerships with contracted suppliers and organisations to test, try and run a varied programme of events that support newly arrived refugees and Ukrainian guests to settle in, find work or training and feel welcome in Dumfries and Galloway.
  • Support our volunteers in running and coordinating sessions and support individuals and families to integrate into communities across D&G
  • Collaborate with The Crichton Trust staff, volunteers, MOOL, DGMA and colleagues in other organisations, such as D&G Council, to support a warm welcome and orientation to the region for Ukrainian and other refugee communities;
  • Support the protection of children, young people and families, by following Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures at all times;

PARTNERSHIP WORKING

  • Maintain good and supportive relationships with local partners, schools and networks, to ensure we can reach the individuals and families who need us most;

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

  • Create, deliver and support regular evaluation reviews of programme delivery, ensuring the continuous improvement of our programmes for our children, young people, families, and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure all data recording, including information on children, young people, families, and partners, is captured accurately, enabling robust impact assessment, delivery of funding agreements and the effective use of our resources;

FINANCE, FUNDING AND FUNDRAISING

  • Support the Head of Research and Development in setting annual programme budgets and operating in line with the standards set out by the organisation;
  • You will help maintain project budgets and work with our finance team to ensure that we keep accurate records and stay in budget
