Associate Professor/Lecturer in Statistics ellis Staff London
The Department of Statistical Science at UCL is the longest established university statistics department in the world and has played a pioneering role in the development of the subject since its foundation in 1911.
It is one of nine departments in the UCL Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and has close links with many other departments, both within the Faculty and outside of it. We teach statistical science at all levels (undergraduate single/combined honours, service courses, MSc and PhD) and carry out research across a wide range of theoretical and applied areas. In the last Research Excellence Framework exercise (2021/22), over 97% of our output was classified as "world-leading" or "internationally excellent" in terms of originality, significance and rigour. We consistently score highly in the National Student Survey in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey.
About the role You will conduct original research and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Statistical Science. Research may be in any branch(es) of statistics, including econometrics and data science. You will mainly contribute to the Department's teaching through our various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You may be responsible for a full module or be asked to contribute to lectures or practicals as part of other modules. The post is available at Associate Professor or Lecturer level. Please specify in your application for which grade you wish to be considered. SalaryFor Lecturer grade 8: £51,474 - £60,521 per annum + market supplement
For Associate Professor grade 9: £65,698 - £71,357 per annum + market supplement About you The successful candidate must have a PhD in statistics, mathematics or related discipline and a strong and clear focus and interest in teaching. They will also be familiar with modern technologies linked with teaching and some familiarity and experience of statistical programming. At the Associate Professor level, they will have active experience in pedagogical research and relative activities (e.g. dissemination of teaching good practice in statistical sciences) and have proven experience in supervision (e.g. at MSc level).
