    Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
    Band 7

    This is an exciting opportunity for a senior specialist speech and language therapist to join the recently established Intensive Support Team on fixed term temporary basis to cover maternity leave.

    The post holder will form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of clinical psychology, learning disability nursing, occupational therapy, and support workers.

    The Intensive Support Team work with a small number of Autistic young people and young people who have severe learning disabilities and their families where complex needs requiring intensive support have been identified.

    Working alongside respite services and other agencies, the Intensive Support Team work collaboratively to create, instigate, and support person centred plans and approaches with the aim of improving the quality of life and reducing any restrictions or restraints (in accordance with NICE guidance).

    The post holder will also have experience of supervision, training and consultation.

    Due to the level of independent working and management of high levels of risk, the post holder is expected to have considerable experience of working with this client group.

    Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
    Considerable experience of working with children with severe and complex disabilities; including Autism; Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals
    Considerable experience managing risk in children with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour
    Knowledge and experience of working within a Safeguarding Children framework
    Ability to select, use and interpret a range of speech and language assessments
    Experience of delivering training
    Commitment to undertake further relevant training and self directed study
    Ability and skills to supervise junior staff
    Current driving licence and car driver – this post has a community focus and there will be daily travel
    Additional qualifications in learning disabilities and autism related interventions
    Experience of PBS planning
