Description
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the restructure of psychology services within Specialist Palliative Care Services across Sunderland and South Tyneside.
You will form part of a team of psychologists and psychological practitioners to continue to develop and embed psychology services for patients and relatives accessing specialist palliative care services.
You will be supported by a larger Clinical Health Psychology Service department, and have access to CPD and specialist clinical supervision and leadership support.
You will work into well-established Specialist Palliative Care Services within St Benedicts Hospice delivering both direct patient and relative psychological assessment and intervention, consultation and training and supervision.
Psychology is a highly-valued role within palliative care services, and you will be supported to continue to develop and grow the Service.
You will have previous experience of working in physical health settings, or cancer and palliative care services, working with MDTs providing both direct and indirect psychological care.
You will work in a variety of clinic settings including inpatients, out patients and in the community. 5 hours per week but flexible working patterns can be arranged.Please help us by adding your telephone number to your application form this will allow us to contact you quickly if required.

You will support the provision and delivery of high-quality clinical psychology services within Specialist Palliative Care.Experience in applying clinical/counselling psychology within the NHS.
Experience of working with adults who have physical health difficulties.
Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for patient's psychological care and treatment, within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan with appropriate supervision.
Experience of working within physical health services/ cancer care/ palliative care.Experience of teaching and training non-psychologists in psychological therapy skills.
Experience of application of psychology in different cultural contexts.
An upper second class Honours Degree or higher in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership with British Psychological Society (BPS).
Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology accredited by HCPC (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 as accredited by the BPS).
Additional training in relevant areas e.g. Supervisor training.Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including lifespan of development psychology.
Models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology and two or more distinct psychological therapies including CBT.
Ability to make clinical and service-related judgements involving complex facts requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology including complex multivariate data analysis as practised in clinical psychology.
Knowledge of current issues in and opportunities for applying clinical psychology in a physical healthcare setting.
Relevant additional clinical experience working within cancer or palliative care.
Experience of representing psychology within MDTs.
Personal qualities/attitude/other
Interest for a broad range of psychological phenomena, models of service delivery and an ability to articulate the value added by clinical psychology services to the wider multi-disciplinary team.
