Adey Steel is an award-winning, family-owned specialist steel fabricator working with partners across the rail, highways, energy, engineering, material handling and construction sectors to help deliver their infrastructure projects.


We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Draughtsperson to join the Adey Steel team based in Loughborough to help produce general arrangement drawings and 3D models for use in information packs during the manufacture and installation of our products.


Key Responsibilities

  • Using Tekla to model structures from engineer's designs and general arrangement drawings
  • Adding connections as detailed in the Engineers calculations
  • Materials scheduling for procurement, including the preparation of prelim and bolt lists
  • Generating drawings and exporting to other formats
  • Creating CNC data for production
  • Appreciation of manufacturing methods and technologies
  • Appreciation of codes and standards used in steel engineering
  • Collaboration with third parties (Clients, Architects, Engineers)
  • Operating efficiently to the Company's QA/QC procedures
  • Detailing both fabrication and prep drawings for the Projects and Contracts team
  • Producing Marking Plans for site erection packs
  • Working closely with the production team and design engineers to ensure design is suitable in terms of onsite buildability and fabrication
  • Working closely with the Project / Contract Managers to ensure good communication and teamwork on projects
  • Assist Project / Contract Managers with the preparation of documentation for quotes

Key Requirements:


  • Fully competent in the use of either Tekla, Stucad or Xsteel software packages
  • Previous experience in similar role ideal (minimum of two years)
  • Capable of liaising both with internal and external customers
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to produce a consistently high standard of work
