Head of People & Culture

Salary:
Up to 65k pro Rota (dependent on experience)


Hours:
Part Time (24 hours per week, across 3 days)


Location:
Predominantly remote working, with some travel to sites


Overview


The Head of People & Culture is responsible for understanding and contributing to the overall strategic aims the Hallmark Engineering Group of businesses, and developing these into a people strategy and project plan to support the growth and development of the whole organisation, ensuring that the Company's values remain at the heart of all activity.


With line management responsibility for the People Advisor and Recruitment Manager (with a recruitment team underneath them), a key part of the Head of People & Culture role is to engage and support the ongoing development of the team, as well as getting involved in day to day operational
HR work.


Objectives

  • Contribute to, and support achievement of the overall business objectives via development and ownership of delivery of a people strategy and quarterly project plan across the Hallmark Engineering group.
  • Support the development of the leadership and management teams by assessing training needs and working with 3rdparty providers as required to design and deliver tailored learning interventions.
  • Gain an understanding of the Scaling Up methodology (inclusive of 7 strata) and ensure that all people activity is aligned with and supports these goals.
  • Leadership of the People and Recruitment team to support their continued engagement and development.

Job Role
The key requirements of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Line management of the People function, including an internal & externally focused recruitment team
  • Develop the strategic people plan to meet the businesses objectives around growth and employee experience, and work with the People & Recruitment teams to deliver on activity, regularly tracking progress against milestones.
  • Conduct a development needs analysis across the leadership and management populations, and work with providers (if required) to design, deliver and support learning outcomes
  • Work with the Engineering and Project Functions to understand their requirements from a resource and talent perspective, and ensure that the relevant training, development and succession programmes are in place to support this.
  • Design and report on key people metrics.
  • Ensure the smooth running of all people policies and processes, updating as required and keeping the Company values at the front and centre of all documents and activity.
  • Work with the People Advisor to support and coach managers and employees across the business as needed, acting as a point of escalation for any complex issues.
  • Continually looking for opportunities to enhance the employee experience and promote EES (or The Hallmark Engineering Group) as an employer of choice.
  • As part of a small team, the management of day to day
    HR and Recruitment operations will be required, filling in knowledge and experience gaps.

Person Specification
The following skills are essential to the performance of this role:

  • Strong leadership capability, both in terms of managing the team and advocating the People function across the business
  • The ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curious, passionate about people, and a high level of integrity in pushing the businesses people agenda forwards.
  • Ideally CIPD Level 7 qualified (or similar level of experience)
  • Leadership / Organisational Development experience desirable but not essential
