Hours of work:
Full-time 37.5 hours per week between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.

You will also be expected to work an additional three core weekends per year during the high summer season and the high Academic intake weekends as part of your salary range offered.

Working hours during periods of shortness can vary to ensure a 24/7 provision is offered at the Wavy Gate Residence.


The Residence is open 24/7, 365 days per year, therefore residence staff share a rota to ensure full cover during times when the school is closed including bank holidays, Christmas and New Year periods.


Salary range:
£27,000- £30,000 annually payable in monthly instalments


Holidays:

Annual holiday entitlement is 25 days plus 8 days in lieu of bank holiday entitlement pro rata for part time.

Up to 5 days of holiday must be saved toward the Christmas and New Year closure if not required to work at the residence.

Holidays are not permitted in July and on the September and January high intake weekends


Role description
The Head of Boarding role (HOB) is an incredibly integral position at Kings Oxford.


The HOB is responsible for the regulatory and statutory compliance framework for all Kings accommodation, student allocations and Senior Houseparent.

The remit for this role includes, but is not limited to, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all Kings Oxford students during their time within our accommodation; leading on the logístical side of our accommodation operations, with the aim of providing an outstanding environment for our students to live in.


An important part of this role is the recruitment of new host families as well as working with our existing Kings host family team.

Ensuring we have more than enough hosts to cater for our student demand.


To ensure all elements of compliance with regard to Boarding National Minimum Standards (NMS) and the Ofsted Common Assessment Framework and Standards for Inspection of Boarding and Residential Schools; acting as Deputy Safeguarding Lead; developing our homestay network and 'pull of hosts' and co-ordinating our summer school accommodation requirements.


The HB will work closely with all core services: Welfare, Academic and EFL, in addition, close working liaison will be developed with external Kings Regional Managers and their agents around the world.

The HOB reports to the Bursar/College Services Manager. The AM will also manage the Senior Houseparent and working closely with all other core services including the, Registrar, Central admissions team, Regional Managers, Health and Safety Officer and Lease providers


Duties and Responsibilities

Accommodation

  • Manage the Senior Houseparent who leads in offering the highest level of care to our accommodation students and excels to ensure students have the best 'residential experience
  • Lead in the recruitment of new host families, reviewing the forecast student needs and having enough host families on the books to fulfil this need.
  • Manage and process all student allocation bookings within a 24hour timely manner, responding to Central Admissions, Regional Manager, local site student accommodation enquiries. Working at least 1012 weeks in advance of student accommodation bookings, maintaining the highest level of customer service
  • Manage future accommodation needs, listing the accommodation needs of host family and other student accommodation to the Bursar/College Services Manager as in advance as possible
  • Deal with the day to day queries from students and staff and communicate effectively with other members of the Kings Oxford team to action these queries.
  • Be responsible for responding to attendance checks and reporting all absences, following the Kings Attendance Policy, monitoring and caring for students who are unwell
  • Lead on the completion of the host family run and storing of information
  • Maintain good relationship with host families and ensuring hosts offer a good level of service

Compliance:


  • Be a Deputy Safeguarding Lead and act in the absence of the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Ensure supervision for under 18yearold students is in accordance with Kings Policies and meet Child Protection and safeguarding statutory requirements
  • Ensure that Kings Oxford meets all aspects of statutory and regulatory compliance for its accommodation
  • Support and have a system in place for providing key required information into the termly review
  • To be a Fire Marshall and First Aider

Emergency on Call:

Kings Oxford offers a 24-hour emergency facility to our students and cover is required during all periods of closure including bank holidays, Easter and the Christmas period.
