The Waste Strategy department is therefore looking for a dynamic individual to develop and implement a sustainable and cost effective waste strategy for Cardiff.


The empowerment and involvement of local communities in the design and delivery of services is a priority for the Council and this is an exciting opportunity for a driven and committed individual to deliver a programme of activity that secures engagement, engenders a sense of ownership and improves local environmental quality.


About the job
In this role you will be responsible for delivering the Waste Strategy for Cardiff. This will involve extensive consultation and engagement, as well as delivering outreach and education to a range of stakeholders. You will also produce regular reports to evidence the impact of the work undertaken.


What We Are Looking For From You

You will have strong organisational and effective communication skills with the ability to seek the views of and understand others, quickly building credibility and trust with stakeholders, including local residents, businesses and community groups.

A strong and demonstrable commitment to equal opportunities and the ability to respond positively to community needs, adapting quickly to change is an essential requirement.

Experience of delivering projects in partnership with others, particularly in a community setting, would be advantageous. A thorough knowledge and understanding of Waste Management Policy and Regulation is essential. Excellent ICT and administration experience is also necessary.

This post is temporary until 31st March 2025.

The post is based on a 37 hour week.

Access to a vehicle and holding a full valid driving licence is essential.
