Business Systems Analyst

6-9 month contract (outside IR35)

Manchester – hybrid working

Our client is in the rail sector and is now requiring an experienced Business Analyst to lead their transition from legacy rail application for their train planning, rostering and control teams across their network.

This will be a challenging role to undertake business analysis aspects to document and map business processes, review and improve working practices and define business requirements for system changes. This will be integral in facilitating the design and documentation of business processes and a transition plan for a new system as the business goes through a market tender process for a new system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand current processes and future objectives.
• Work with Senior Management and Subject Matter Experts to facilitate the definition of requirements for new business systems, including functional and non-functional requirements, for inclusion in a market tender procurement exercise.
• Work with Subject Matter Experts to define and document User Acceptance Plans to ensure new systems can be fully tested against the documented business and system requirements.
• Assist in the creation and documentation of implementation plans, covering aspects such as procedural changes, data transfers / archival, system switch-over, documentation, training and business continuity.

The candidate must have the following experience:

• Prior rail / TOC industry experience, with expertise in train planning, rostering, and control processes.
• Proven track record as a Business Analyst
• Need to be pro-active to engage multiple stakeholders in a complex environment
• Being inquisitive to tease information out of stakeholders
• Practical experience with the key concepts of Unified Modelling Language (UML), process modelling and have the knowledge and skills to apply these in a range of environments.
• Ability to be independent to not steer the client into a certain supplier so much more of a consultative approach
