  • Assist in the development and execution of procurement strategies and plans for all categories of spend across functional and organisation boundaries to ensure optimum value for money procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and suppliers to support the delivery of innovation and cost reduction across the business through procurement plans and support for contract management.
  • Identify and assist in delivering innovative opportunities that result in both cashable and noncashable value for money benefits. Review contracts and spend data to ensure savings are being realised and value is being driven.
  • Assist in ensuring that contractual arrangements are fully compliant with relevant legislation, standing orders and processes, and are in place to meet business or project needs.
  • Use appropriate tools and techniques to deliver best practice and continuous improvement in procurement and across contracts.
  • Work with procurement partners representing the needs of the business.
  • Facilitate participation in procurement benchmarking clubs, consortia or other structures to optimise the efficiency of the procurement activity.
  • Assist in contract management activities, developing relationships with core suppliers, to provide a coordinated approach across the functions, departments and / or parties participating in business wide arrangements.
  • Ensure procurement activities and processes comply with policy and procedure including standing orders.
  • Lead, assist, and undertake specific procurement projects as agreed.
  • Ensure effective communication links with other departments to ensure standardisation of procurement and contract management approaches and methods where possible.
  • Attend contract management meetings with core suppliers and monitor overall supplier performance.
  • Identify and provide assistance to drive supplier management / supply chain initiatives and support innovation.
  • Establish and maintain an Approved Supplier/Contractor listing compliant with relevant processes.
  • Assist, support and lead in the development and monitoring of KPIs for use on all relevant contracts.
  • Support senior procurement managers in delivering effective and efficient procurement function.
  • Assist in ensuring procurement activities adhere to appropriate legislation.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records relating procurement activities for ready access for such reasons as audits and inspections.
  • Assist with completion of Quality Audits of contracts.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of procurement training and development programmes. Provide assistance and training to colleagues on procurement, contract management and Intend as required.
  • Engage in training and continuous personal development. Assist in the management of risk in all areas of responsibility.
  • Keep up to date with the latest procurement legislation and strategies.
  • Take personal responsibility for the health and safety of myself and others by working within the organisation's Health and Safety policy and procedures at all times.
  • Be an active member of the Procurement Team, sharing best practice and ideas to further improve the value the department delivers to the business.

Personal Specification:


  • Experience of running successful procurement competitions (end to end) using a range of methods, techniques and routes to market.
  • Hold, or be working towards, a relevant procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS) or equivalent recognized commercial qualification or proven experience in a procurement role.
- knowledge of UK public procurement regulations and EU Procurement Directives and able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of current procurement legislation.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, being able to confidently communicate with suppliers and customers at all levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand, evaluate, summarise and draw conclusions from numerical and nonnumerical data
  • Have experience of building professional, dynamic relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Evidence experience of Microsoft software packages including Excel, Word, Outlook and webbased packages
  • Evidence experience of organising, planning and allocating work tasks
  • Evidence experience of working in a customerfocussed administrative service
  • Demonstrate excellent commercial & business acumen
  • Demonstrate excellent administration skills
  • Demonstrate resilience to increases in workload and unanticipated emergencies
  • Demonstrate the ability to use own initiative and adapt to changing circumstances
