    Applications are invited from suitably qualified HCPC State Registered Biomedical Scientists (minimum, 3 years post registration experience) from across the Tees Valley Pathology Service for the post Senior Biomedical Scientist in the Immunology Department at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust laboratories at The James Cook University Hospital Middlesbrough

    Main duties of the job

    The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust laboratories provide a wide range of investigations to support the clinical activity within a busy progressive Trust and surrounding primary care locations.

    The Immunology department is well equipped, it will have a new Siemens Labcell system and associated analysers performing automated tests, supported by a variety of stand-alone automation and manual systems. The Department is accredited by UKAS against ISO15189. There is an expectation the candidate will be required to participate in some extended day working and some weekend and bank holiday working.

    The Senior Biomedical Scientists manage the sections of the laboratory, supervise and train staff and assist with the development of the laboratory. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills to enhance the team.

    Essential

  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
  • FIBMS, MSc or equivalent in Immunology (if not completed needs to be within 3 months of appointment)
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques and Biomedical science
  • Working knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
  • Desirable

  • Advanced working knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
