Description

We are looking for a competent and highly motivated individual to provide invaluable support to our Medical team in the ED Departments at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

You will be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the medical rotas, ensuring staffing levels and skill mix are appropriate, with the support of our workforce manager in ED.

You will also provide administration support to the department.

Possession of the requisite knowledge and strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential.

Knowledge of NHS systems and rotas would be a significant advantage, but is not essential.

You will be responsible for the administration of accurate and effective rostering for the Medical team.

You will be required to manage your own workload, use initiative and communicate effectively.


You will act as first point of contact, liaising with and aiding staff members on staffing levels and shift patterns.

You will record sickness absence and ensure shifts are backfilled.

You will also provide support to our admin team.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:

  • Ensure staffing levels are appropriate and escalating as required
  • Act as first line support to users to resolve issues where possible and escalating as required.
  • Liaise with the health roster team to ensure adequate allocation of shifts.
  • To logically provide solutions to any problems / queries encountered by self or others in relation to staffing levels and shifts.
  • Ensure rosters are finalised, escalating any noncompliance until resolved. Undertaking appropriate checks and adjustments to ensure correct payments
  • Ensure sickness is monitored and recorded accurately, maintaining confidentiality at all times and escalating where appropriate
  • Liaise with management team to problem solve and resolve errors on staff hours and grades.
  • Action Corporate Forms to ensure that ESR and Healthroster systems are in sync within agreed deadlines
  • Ensure any new starters are visible on the rota
  • Upload annual leave
  • Upload reports and liaise with eexpenses.
  • Aid with the production of timely reports to provide documentary evidence for internal / external reviews and inspections such as the CQC.
  • Ensure daily staffing levels are updated and displayed on the unit in a timely manner, escalating to the senior team any potential issues.
  • Respond to all enquiries either written or verbal in a professional, courteous and timely manner and ensuring a high standard of customer service is provided.
  • Provide effective communications to include the distribution of confidential information.
