Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Drama to join our partnered secondary school in Lewisham. The successful candidate will lead the schools Drama department, inspiring students to explore their creativity, develop their confidence, and excel in their understanding of the performing arts. The Head of Drama will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum, directing performances, and fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and deliver engaging and challenging Drama lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, in line with the National Curriculum and exam board requirements.
· Lead and manage the Drama department, providing guidance and support to colleagues, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
· Direct and produce school productions, showcases, and performances, involving students in all aspects of theatrical production.
· Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
· Organise and facilitate extracurricular Drama activities, clubs, and workshops to enhance students' skills and experiences.
· Collaborate with other departments and external partners to integrate Drama into cross-curricular projects and community initiatives.
Requirements:
· Qualified teacher status (QTS) and relevant degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field.
· Proven experience teaching Drama at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, with a track record of achieving excellent results.
· Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members.
· Creative flair and passion for the performing arts, with the ability to create exciting and innovative learning experiences.
· Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.
