An exciting opportunity has arisen for a police staff member to work within the Dudley Partnership Team, supporting the engagement and consultation work stream.

We are looking for a well-motivated and flexible individual to join the team.


You will provide support, advice, guidance and resources to teams and partners, targeting relevant and meaningful engagement with all communities, and grow our effective use of volunteers.

Through the identification of gaps, your expertise in communication and active citizens will enable you to understand issues and barriers presented to problem solving and overcome challenges in partnership.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordination of consultative groups including Independent Advisory Group (IAG), Neighbourhood Watch (NHW), faith groups, and the growing of our volunteer workforce
  • Development and management of Key Individual Networks (KIN), ensuring it is representative of neighbourhood typography
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the community of Dudley, including developing KIN through targeting underrepresented groups and locations
  • Utilise consultative groups and WMP digital communication streams to disseminate relevant targeted messaging to the community of Dudley to reduce crime and disorder and community tension as well as crime prevention and community reassurance information
  • Support local engagement events alongside neighbourhood teams
  • Subject matter expert with regards to WMNow and any future digital communication streams responsible for trouble shooting and delivery of CPD training within the NPU
  • To act as a single point of contact (SPOC) for watch groups, supporting NPU staff in increasing groups and maintaining relationships
  • To effectively map and understand Neighbourhood typography and support NPU staff in increasing engagement based on NH typography
  • To identify and promote new opportunities for engagement
  • To facilitate the effective dissemination of corporate information as required
  • To act as SPOC for Corporate Communications in engaging with Local Policing
  • Support NPU internal messaging as appropriate
  • To use a targeted approach to promoting and encouraging active citizens at all levels
  • Identify funding opportunities and support NPU staff to utilise as appropriate
  • Local management of force funding schemes such as Helping Communities Fund
  • Ownership and coordination of NPU engagement resources
  • Share information with partners, as appropriate
  • To focus delivery on Police and Crime Plan and Force and Dudley Strategic Assessments
  • To comply and drive Force values, vision and ambition
  • To comply with WMP Code of Ethics

Skills and Competencies:


Essential:


  • Be able to use all Microsoft office packages effectively
  • Be able to actively participate in meetings
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team and individually
  • An ability to work under mínimal supervision
  • An ability to influence and guide others
  • An ability to communicate effectively in person and across digital media

Desirable:


  • Successfully completed web editor course
  • Proficient use in WMP external communication tools
  • An understanding of the National Decision Making Model
  • Proficient in the use of CORVUS

Hours/location:

The hours of work are 36.5 hours per week. Core office hours are between hours but some flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts is essential.

The post will be located in Brierley Hill.


Vetting:


Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.


Medical

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
