    Strategic Commissioner – Vulnerable Children and Families

    Grade 6 - £49,498 - £61,269 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

    Permanent, Full-time, 36.5 hours per week. The role is largely remote/home-based however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.

    About the role

    In this role, you'll be required to take key commissioning decisions and secure arrangements for supporting vulnerable children and families including managing holiday activities, short breaks, employment and skills programmes and joint commissioning alongside the Birmingham Children's Trust. You will represent the commissioning function of the Directorate across a range of stakeholders both internal and external and be a key point of contact between the City Council, the Birmingham Children's Trust and community organisations across the city. You will lead and manage key programmes of activity, to achieve the City Council's objectives and to deliver high quality outcomes for children, young people and families in Birmingham.

    Putting children, young people and families across Birmingham first at all times, you'll motivate, influence, and develop your team, representing the Council to external agencies, and managing a significant budget to ensure the best possible service and outcomes for children, young people and families. You will work closely with the Head of Strategic Commissioning to develop an integrated multi-disciplinary commissioning service with children, young people and families at its heart.

    About you

    An established professional with a degree level qualification in a relevant subject, you'll have substantial experience of strategic commissioning including experience of children's commissioning. You'll have proven team management experienced and be driven, creative and a passionate advocate for children and young people. You'll have experience of applying intelligence and working with complex information to inform key policy decisions and strategies. You'll broker effective relationships with a wide range of colleagues, stakeholders, and external organisations, creating enduring partnerships that position the Council as a key voice of influence.
