Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join Ward 4, our short stay older persons ward at UHD as a band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.
Ward 4 is a 28 bedded older persons ward managing the exciting balance of acuity, palliative and everything in between.
Our patient group covers patients with a variety of illnesses and long term health conditions, as well as complex care and social needsWe work closely with social care, families, therapy and the wider MDT to ensure all our patients receive the highest standard of care.

TBC Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of flow, patient safety and staff on the ward.
You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills including being proficient in extended clinical roles expected in the care of the acute patient.
As the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse it is expected you can make justified decisions in the absence of the Sister, and partake in holding the medical bleep, including bed meetings and safe staffing.
You will need to be able to work well under pressure and build strong and effective communication links with the Clinical Site Team, OPAU, and the Multi-Disciplinary Teams, including the management and escalation of patients with a long length of stay.
You will organise and be responsible for staff appraisal, training, support and development for staff on the ward. Additionally, you will be responsible for addressing and resolving complaints, sickness management and adverse incidents. Working for our organisation Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD.
