  • This is a hugely exciting opportunity for an Employee Relations professional to take on a newly created senior position within Legal & General. In the role, you'll be accountable for policy development and Employee Relations strategy across our UK businesses, ensuring that L&G is proactive, pushing ahead of trends and delivering an ER strategy that is attuned to the needs of the workforce. You will also play an essential role in continuing to nurture the partnership we have with the trade unions, helping us to think about how we collectively manage and implement our ER strategy. As a new role in the organisation, there will be ample opportunity to make your mark, set the agenda and deliver creatively.
What you'll be doing

  • Developing and maintaining an effective and costefficient consultation framework that meets legislative and regulatory requirements whilst meeting the changing needs of the business across territories.
  • Evolving and embedding L&G's approach to managing performance framework across the Group so that there is an appropriate riskbased approach in place and that performance decisions are within risk appetite.
  • Managing the daytoday relationships with MCF, UNITE and the employee reps, particularly within the spirit of the Partnership Agreement. Providing appropriate advice and an avenue for escalation and ensuring there are enough representatives to meet ongoing consultation requirements.
  • Leading and responding to Tupe/ Sale/ buying of business programmes and ensuring the appropriate consultation and due diligence of HR matters take place.
  • Developing external market insight and bringing in thought leadership on HR policy strategy in all our territories and markets, and sharing recommendations to the HR Leadership Team as to where in the markets we should sit, what the present and emerging trends are, and how we need to align this with our Employee Value Proposition.
  • Ensuring the quality of our organisational framework to meet and oversee policy standards, including oversight of policy handbooks, subpolicy development, contracts of employment and internal communication and awareness, as relevant.

  • Principally, we are looking for someone with a real interest in shaping how we manage and set out our policy framework, both now and into the future, as we continue to adapt to the everchanging needs of the market. You'll be passionate about creating the right conditions for our people, while being able to focus on clarity and simplicity of message when shaping what can sometimes be highly complicated matters.

Knowledge:


  • Good knowledge of ER policy, employment law, trade union management, employee relation strategy, ER market trends

Experience:


  • Trade union management

Leadership:


  • Proven management and leadership experience, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
