    Default job background
    Description

This is a replacement post due to previous postholder moving to another team within the Durham Tees Valley care group.

Durham Tees Valley Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services meet the mental and behaviour needs of children and young people up to the age of 18 years.

    The service is split into:

    - Getting Help,

    - Getting More Help, LD CAMHS and Neurodevelopmental assessment teams,

    - Specialist services (Eating Disorders and Forensic CAMHS).

The Redcar and Cleveland Children and Young Peoples Service is based in The Ridings in Redcar, the major population centre of the unitary authority area of Redcar and Cleveland, formerly part of the County of Cleveland. The premises are located next to Foxrush, the base for Adult Mental Health services in Redcar, which allows for good working links with colleagues. The population of the local authority area is approx. 136,000, with approximately 25% of them being under the age of 18. The post holder will have responsibility for the assessment and management of mental and/or behavioural needs of children and young people presenting with mental disorder and requiring assessment for neurodevelopmental needs. There are opportunities to become a GMC registered trainer e.g. clinical and / or educational supervisor. Main duties of the job The post holder is expected to offer mental health assessment, psychiatric opinions, diagnosis and holistic care plans for patients up to the age of 18, referred to them in hours and when on call. Direct patient contact would include new patients to service, new psychiatric assessments and review appointments. Main conditions would be expected to include: ADHD, ASD, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, Tic Disorders, Psychosis, Self-harm, Conduct Disorder and Sleep disorders. The Children and Young Peoples Service uses the Care Programme Approach (CPA) and has a relevant all-age Trust policy. The majority of young patients are managed on Standard Care, there is a minority who require management using CPA. The post holder would have a mixture of Standard Care and CPA patients on their caseload, typically those who require CPA require a more intensive and more senior level of staff involvement. The post holder would be Care Coordinator for some patients and operate as Lead Professional or Co-worker for the remainder. Clinical work would be expected to be carried out predominantly within the clinical base at The Ridings in Redcar (or the new site after moving) but may occur within other settings for example a young person may have strong feelings about being seen in an alternative community setting or it may be more appropriate to see a young person at their school. About us We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of 320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby.
