    We have a rewarding role working as the Deputy Team Leader at Radcliffe Place Admission Avoidance Service. Radcliffe Places provides specialised support to people with learning disabilities with or without autism during periods of crisis. Radcliffe Place helps people navigate through challenging times and prevents unnecessary admissions to acute care services across Greater Manchester.

    Radcliffe Place opened in Summer 2023 and is a relatively new service providing specialised care, offer of least restrictive options and employing a trauma-informed care approach, highlighting PCFT's commitment to providing personalised and compassionate care to our population.

    The Deputy Team Leader position with support in maintaining the smooth operations of the service and we are look for someone with strong leadership skills, innovation, and the ability to navigate challenging situations with empathy and effectiveness. Additionally, the postholder will have a background in clinical care and will contribute to the successful coordination and delivery of care within the team.

    Main duties of the job
    • To provide strong and effective leadership to the Radcliffe Admission Avoidance Service.
    • To lead and motivate the team to provide person centred support to children and adults with learning disabilities and associated health care needs and/or challenging behaviour.
    • To provide high quality person centred support to people with learning disabilities.
    • To promote at all times the key principles of 'Valuing People 2001' - Rights, Inclusion, Choice and Independence, Valuing People Now 2005.
    • To empower the support teams to translate these aspirations into the everyday lives of the people who access Pennine Care's Learning Disability Residential Service.

    • At all times to work in accordance with Pennine Care policies & protocols.
    • To lead the Radcliffe Admission Avoidance in the assessment of careneeds, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of support, and contribute to the setting of a high standard of care to clients, embracing the values of Valuing People 2001.
    • To fully involve clients, family members and persons acting as advocates in the development of the above plans.
    • To adopt a multidisciplinary approach to the development of programmes of care.
    • To embrace public health role, promoting health and well being and, where possible, prevent ill health.
    • To take on the role of Named Nurse for a number of identified clients.
    • To initiate and participate in Vulnerable Adult/Child Protectioninvestigations.
    • To maintain accurate and up to date records in line with Pennine Care and NMC guidelines.
    • To administer medication ensuring that legal requirements are observed in line with Pennine Care policy and procedures and NMC guidelines.
    • To communicate effectively with a range stakeholders and servicesincluding GPs, The Learning Disability Team and Adult Care Services as required.
    • To operate as the leading member of the staff team, facilitating TeamMeetings, Staff Development and Training.
    • To provide cover across the rota as required and work flexibly across all shift patterns
    • To ensure adequate and appropriate deployment of staff within the team.
    • Provide day to day formal and informal supervision for members of the support team.
    • Receive formal and informal supervision from the Service Manager.
    • To lead in the professional development of the support workers including NVQ/competency framework.
    • To facilitate student placements.
    • To complete the appraisals with support team members.
    • To support the Service Manager in the recruitment and retention of staff following Pennine Care Recruitment Policies and Procedures.
    • To be responsible for the distribution and accountancy of petty cash and clients monies as required, following agreed policies and procedures.
    • To adhere to the financial systems and to ensure adequate financialresources are available (e.g. petty cash).
    • To facilitate the development and implementation of person centredapproaches.
    • Responsible for keeping staff up to date with Learning Disability practice developments and to take responsibility for your own personal and professional development.
    • To be alert to the needs and opportunities for change and progress in the service, and initiate change in consultation with the Residential Service Manager.
    • To support the Service Director and Service Manager in the development of Policies and Protocols
    • To take a lead role in the development, implementation, and monitoring of risk assessments for service users.
    • To be responsible for the deployment of Support Staff also havingresponsibility for the service in the Managers absence.
    • Responsible for collecting monthly occupancy figures required by theDepartment of Health
    • To undertake audits under the direction of the Service Manager.
    • To participate and assist in setting standards of client care based on sound research findings.
    • To encourage the support team to utilise evidence based practice when care planning for people with complex needs.
    Person Specification Skills and Abilities Essential
    • A genuine commitment to empowering & promoting the inclusion of disabled people within the community
    • The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and skills to overcome significant barriers to communication.
    • The ability to work without supervision.
    • Proven skills to motivate and lead others
    • Motivated to continued professional development of self and others.
    • Accurate IT Skills Excel, Word, Powerpoint

    Education / Qualifications Essential

    Experience Essential
    • Proven experience of leading and supervising staff in an informal and formal manner
    • Experience of supporting children or adults who have a learning disability.
    • Experience of delivering training
    • Experience of clinical assessment and care planning.
    Desirable
    • An understanding and experience of Positive Behavioural Support
    • Experience of supporting people with challenging behaviour.
    • Experience of leading a team
    Knowledge Essential
    • An Awareness of the disability issues and rights of disabled people
    • A positive commitment to empowering and promoting the inclusion of disabled people within the community
    • A working knowledge of legal frameworks (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
    • A commitment to Person Centred Approaches and in-depth knowledge of current LD papers
