    Applications are invited for a Peri-operative Practitioner to join the Brachytherapy theatre team.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse with anaesthetic skills/qualifications and Scrub Practitioners.


    Rutherford Brachytherapy Department is a busy and highly specialised oncology day surgery unit within the Oncology CSU which treats approximately 160 complex oncology patients per month.

    The department provides an established and internationally renowned gynaecology and prostate brachytherapy service which. The department also provides a dedicated adult oncology CVC line insertion and removal service along with a palliative pain list for patients requiring specialist intervention for their pain control


    The successful candidate will have previous B5 experience of working in a theatre environment and be able to demonstrate clinical skills within a busy specialised unit.

    The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, theatre staff, radiographers and medical physicists all providing specialist treatment and patient support.

    We are a flexible workforce allowing practitioners to work across all aspects of the day-case patients pathway - admission, the peri-operative phase and recovery and discharge.

    The post-holder is expected to use their experience in supporting and training other qualified professionals, trainees and visitors.
    The Brachytherapy department is open Monday - Friday 07:30 - 18:00.

    To provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for the Peri-operative patient.

    The jobholder will work within an environment caring for peri-operative patients within the oncology CSU.

    Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust guidelines and policies

    • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of Perioperative care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept
    • Participate in the theatre on call rota, as required.
    • Education and Training
    • Contribute to the promotion of a positive learning environment within the clinical area
    • Assist in the training and education of learners and other staff
    - development plan and performance review

    • Participate in mandatory training annually
    Current issues in health care
    Registered Nurse (Level 1 or 2) Or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
    Willing to undergo training as necessary
