- Assist the Home Manager in the overall management and administration of the children's home.
- Supervise and support a team of care staff, providing leadership, guidance, and training as needed.
- Implement and maintain care plans and safeguarding procedures for all children in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the home, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
- Conduct regular assessments and reviews of care plans and risk assessments, making adjustments as necessary.
- Collaborate with external agencies, families, and professionals involved in the care of the children.
- Assist in recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff members.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and development activities to enhance team effectiveness and individual skills.
- Contribute to budget planning and ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively.
- Uphold and promote the values and ethos of the organization at all times.
- Proven experience working in a residential children's home or similar setting.
- Relevant qualifications in social care, childcare, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or above in Children and Young People).
- Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing and record keeping.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A compassionate and patient approach to working with children and young people.
