Deputy Manager for Children's Home

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager, a reputable children's home dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in need.

The Deputy Manager will work closely with the Home Manager to oversee daily operations, staff management, and ensure the well-being and development of the children under our care.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Home Manager in the overall management and administration of the children's home.
Supervise and support a team of care staff, providing leadership, guidance, and training as needed.
Implement and maintain care plans and safeguarding procedures for all children in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the home, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
Conduct regular assessments and reviews of care plans and risk assessments, making adjustments as necessary.
Collaborate with external agencies, families, and professionals involved in the care of the children.
Assist in recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff members.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and development activities to enhance team effectiveness and individual skills.
Contribute to budget planning and ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively.
Uphold and promote the values and ethos of the organization at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

Proven experience working in a residential children's home or similar setting.
Relevant qualifications in social care, childcare, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or above in Children and Young People).
Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing and record keeping.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
A compassionate and patient approach to working with children and young people.
Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
