Description
Improving the railway is crucial to Britain's prosperity, to local economic growth and to reaching net zero.

It's our job at the Great British Railways Transition Team to create that simpler, better railway, for everyone in Britain.

From creating a new organisation that will act as a guiding mind for the entire railway, Great British Railways, to delivering a transformational programme to simplify rail fares and ticket buying.

Developing a long-term strategy for the railway or new partnerships between the railway and regional bodies. Our work relies on deep, complex and wide-ranging stakeholder engagement, and we want you to own it.

What you will be doing

You'll ensure that we have the right structures and processes in place to manage our stakeholder engagement effectively and proactively across multiple touchpoints.

You'll have the gravitas and confidence to influence across the organisation and at all levels to ensure that the right conversations and communications are happening with the right people at the right times.

With experience of delivering stakeholder engagement in the context of major change and working closely with government, you'll be at home offering advice to colleagues on their day-to-day engagement while also having an eye to the big picture of our engagement with key audiences.

Ideally, you'll already have experience of the stakeholder landscape in rail or an adjacent sector, you'll certainly be an excellent motivator of individuals and teams, and you'll be a natural collaborator.

What we need from you

  • Demonstrable experience of devising and delivering a companywide stakeholder engagement strategy in a multifaceted organisation with a complex political and stakeholder landscape
  • In depth understanding of strategies and techniques for influencing, engaging and consulting a wide range of stakeholder audiences simultaneously.
  • Proven experience in achieving targets/results, passionate about coordinating and bringing people and resources together to achieve objectives
  • Demonstrable experience of a wide range of communications and influencing skills
  • Experience of working with key rail industry stakeholders including governments, devolved bodies, train operators, suppliers, passenger groups and business groups
This role is available on a Fixed Term Contract and Secondment basis for 12 months
