    Data Scientist Apprentice

    Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist Apprentice to join the Analytics & Data Science Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

    Data Science at Yorkshire Water involves solving the company's key challenges through the explorational of data, providing key insights that make a real difference to our customers and the environment.
    A Data Scientist Apprenticeship will offer opportunities to develop key skills in analysis, modelling & data engineering as well as opportunities to develop softer skills, such as communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management.

    Where you fit in:
    As our Data Scientist Apprentice you will work alongside other Data specialists to develop competence in:


    • The processing, transformation & analysis of complex data sets.

    • The delivery of Data Science solutions that utilise Machine Learning, Cloud platforms and Artificial Intelligence

    • The creation of interesting and compelling data visualisations & outputs that effectively communicate insights to colleagues.

    • The ability to support colleagues in the effective use of data & analytics via training & technical support.

    • Understanding the approaches and technologies that are emerging in the Data & Technology sectors

    What skills & qualifications you will need:


    • 5 GCSE's Grade 4-9 or A-C including English and Mathematics.

    • 3 A-levels grade A-C including Mathematics.

    • Some experience of working with data from either work experience, your academic history or a hobby.

    • Able to solve problems.

    You will also benefit from having:


    • A Level 2 or above qualification in I.T.

    • A Full UK driving licence and/or the ability to travel to our Head Office in Buttershaw, Bradford on a daily basis.

    • The ability to pass the Yorkshire Water Occupational Health Screening Assessment

    Recruitment Process

    To assess your skills effectively, our selection process includes an online assessment, assessment centre and a follow up 2nd stage interview with the hiring manager interview if you are successful at the 1st stage assessment centre.

    Closing date: 26th May 2024
    1st stage Assessment centres taking place on 18th or 19th June 2024.
    2nd stage interviews taking place from the 1st to the 5th July.

    If successful for the role, you will be required to undergo pre-employment checks that will include a Basic Disclosure Check, carried out through a Third-Party Company, prior to commencing employment. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the security vetting process for either a Counter Terrorist Check or Security Check clearance.
