    Description

    AWE is currently hiring for a role as an Energetic Materials Science Technician within the Explosive Materials and Initiation Science (ExMIS) group.

    Location: Aldermaston, Reading

    Salary: £21,460 - £30,560 per annum (depending on suitability and experience level)

    Closing Date: 17th May 2024

    This role requires supporting scientists and laboratory work within the Explosives group by providing necessary technical expertise. The ideal candidate should have experience in scientific laboratory environments and possess problem-solving skills with an engineering focus.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Training in analytical science processes
    • Supporting laboratory processes
    • Procuring materials and consumables
    • Facilitating external customer interactions and material shipment
    • Maintaining equipment and instrumentation
    • Managing laboratory housekeeping and documentation

    Desired qualifications and skills:

    • Experience in a scientific laboratory environment
    • Handling hazardous materials and chemicals
    • Engineering-focused problem-solving skills
    • Understanding of analytical chemistry techniques
    • Knowledge of Health & Safety standards
    • Good laboratory practices and housekeeping
