    We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Smarter Decisioning Platform team at Tesco Bank
    • This role will be focused on joining a team of data engineers to ensure reliable systems operations and being involved in the building, maintenance, operation, and support of a range of cloud infrastructure within AWS and in our data centres. This includes working with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management to develop and manage our core services.
    • You will co-ordinate activity within your team, devise and implement complex solutions, promote, implement, and collaborate to evolve our practice standards and patterns, and act as a subject matter expert with architecture and product teams.

    • As a Senior Systems Engineer, the team will look to you to set a direction and drive through service improvements, features and change. You will work closely with all engineers on your team from seniors to juniors, mentoring and building their careers, and will influence and work closely with our leads and principal engineers on our longer-term technology goals.
    What you'll be doing
    • Coordinating activities and delivering technical solutions to our stakeholders with the Product Team.
    • Ensuring reliable and high levels of system operations through monitoring and response to incidents.
    • Leveraging automation including Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management to continually improve our processes and service operations targets.
    • Leading and sharing knowledge with other engineers within the team to ensure best practices are followed .
    • Contribute to embedding an agile mindset and approach focused on improving outcomes.
    We need you to have
    • Experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, IAM, S3)
    • Experience with Scripting (Python, Powershell, Groovy)
    • Experience with CI/CD Workflows (we use Jenkins as our pipeline tool)
    • Experience with Terraform and Ansible
    And if you have any of these, even better
    • Containerisation experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • IBM MQ, IBM Connect Direct, IBM Sterling File Gateway, IBM Secure Proxy
    • Knowledge of SAFe and/or Agile practices

    Additional Information

    Role Alignment

    Following the announcement regarding Tesco's' strategic partnership with Barclays, this role will support our banking business and will transfer to Barclay's UK towards the end of 2024, subject to regulatory approval. Please note, the transfer date may change.
