Operations Manager

ABL Group is a major global independent energy and marine consulting firm deep diving into the energy transition across renewables, maritime, and oil and gas sectors, with expertise across marine and engineering disciplines worldwide.

The Operations Manager role focuses on overseeing the daily operations of ABL Aberdeen Energy business. Collaborating with department heads to ensure top-notch operational support for clients, while effectively managing the business's P&L. You'll also drive key business development activities to fuel business growth.

What you will be doing

Grow the ABL business in Aberdeen with support from various managers.

Assist the Country manager in leading ABL Scotland business.

Plan, execute, and monitor staff levels against budgets.

Take ownership of the ABL Aberdeen P&L, monitor budgets and maintain detailed forecasting.

Ensure the business's gross margin meets or exceeds requirements.

Develop client relationships, identify new opportunities, and introduce new services.

Provide motivational management across all functions.

Promote a cohesive team environment.

Collaborate with departmental managers to uphold contract delivery standards.

What we are looking for

Ideally, a Senior or Principal Engineer, Naval Architect, or Operations Manager with a background in marine, offshore renewables, or oil and gas sectors.

Chartered Engineer or equivalent education and experience, or a Master Mariner or Chief Engineer with substantial marine consultancy related experience.

Minimum 10 years relevant experience in the offshore or marine industries.

Demonstrated people management skills.

Proficient in marine and engineering consultancy for offshore oil and gas markets.

Experience in executing mid to large scale business plans and project development.

Exposure to vessel inspections and warranty surveys is a plus.
