    Job summary

    Workington GP Practice has an exciting opportunityfor a Receptionist within the newly merged, five site practice.

    The candidate will act as the first and centralpoint of contact for patients, external agencies and all staff members,providing a first-class level of Reception/Customer Service to patients. Youwill be required to offer general assistance across the 5 site practice andproject a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, in personand via the telephone.

    You must be a good teamplayer with excellent communication skills, polite and have a good telephonemanner.

    Main duties of the job

    Dutieswill include, but are not limited to:

    Actingas the focal point of the practice and act as a liaison between patients,clinicians and other members of the team

    Greetall patients on arrival, ensuring all patients are checked in either manuallyor via the patient touch screen

    Effectiveuse of the practice appointment system, to include booking appointments and assistingwith the maintaining/monitoring the appointment system, including processing ofe-requests

    Answeringincoming calls and assisting with any patient queries and concerns

    Dealingwith messages from patients, clinicians or external agencies and takeappropriate action where required

    Dealingwith tasks that clinicians may assign to you in an effective and timely manner

    Inputdata into the patients health records as necessary

    Contributingto identifying and acting on potential improvements

    Updatingand monitoring patient information notice boards, to ensure all relevantinformation is available and up to date

    Generateelectronic/online repeat prescriptions requests and allocate as instructed

    Tohave a thorough knowledge of all relevant practice procedures

    Towork in accordance with written protocols

    Generalfiling and other tasks associated with maintaining efficient reception team

    Toprovide cover for colleagues in times of absence for annual leave/sickness

    Reception duties will include:

    Act as the first and central point of contact for patients, external agencies and all staff members, providing a first-class level of Reception/Customer Service to your patients.

    Offer general assistance within the Primary Care Centre across the 5 site practice and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, in person and via the telephone.

    Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

    Undertake reception related administrative duties.

    Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

  • Strong commitment to the vision and values of NCPC Genuine interest in and commitment to the needs of the local community Ability to work as part of a team and establish good working relationships at all levels
  • Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care Experience of Reception work Previous experience in Customer Service role
  • Qualifications
