Clinical Informatics Editor


Contract:
Permanent (Full Time)

£65,476 per annum

BMA House, London - UK (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

  • Editorial related review of our machine interpretable content to ensure the correct clinical scope has been covered and that it faithfully captures the clinical intent of the recommendation. Identify any potential patient safety issues associated with the tagging of content and its subsequent uses.
  • Implement editorial focused processes for reviewing the initial tagging of our CDS content and its delivery in a computable form. Contribute to their revision and maintenance.
  • Liaise with section editors when there is a query about the interpretation of statements in the content. If an underlying content change is agreed, coordinate the proposed changes with the machine interpretable content.
  • Assess the consistency with which we express similar clinical recommendations according to a defined editorial scope. Work with data analysts in the team to implement any needed analysis and subsequent checks in an automated way.
  • Contribute to the interpretation of the clinical nature of customer requirements and determination of the capabilities of the underlying clinical content to support those requirements. Use background knowledge of how CDS content is created and structured to advise on what can and can't be supported.

Qualifications

  • Essential: First degree in a biomedical science field
  • Essential: Further degree or professional qualification in related field Medicine / Pharmacy / Nursing with experience of clinical practice in that field

Experience

  • Experience devising, creating and updating clinical decision support information for a reputable scientific publisher
  • Essential
  • Experience of a range of CDS content sources to inform the clinical scope of what we address and what we link to from other resources
  • Desirable
  • Demonstrable interest in health informatics and increasing machine interpretability of clinical content

Skills

  • Ability to collaborate with highly skilled professionals with similar and different qualifications based on clinical editorial priorities and provide them with guidance and support.
  • Able to make judgements on priority of clinical statements in our CDS content to inform scope of what we provide as machine interpretable content
  • Understand the flow evidence that has been used to justify clinical statements in CDS content in order to understand the background and interpretation of those statements.
