    What you will be doing

    Jewish Care is looking to start up a choir in Redbridge but needs someone to pull it all together and lead everyone in song We are therefore looking for a volunteer to organise and facilitate a choir/singing group. What you'll be doing in this role: Choosing songs/compiling music
    Facilitating an informal choir and helping to lead the group
    Motivating and leading a group of singers

    What difference you will make

    Singing exercises the brain as well as the body and is particularly beneficial for improving breathing, posture and muscle tension. Research has shown that singing can be good for you on many levels. It can help lower stress, boost immunity and lung function, enhance memory, improve mental health, and help you cope with physical and emotional pain. Your skills will uplift those who attend and help with any issues of isolation or loneliness. As well as being incredibly beneficial to those who attend, this group will also be lots of fun and will be an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable volunteer role.

    What additional skills or experience you should have

    A musical background and/or experience
    Ability to confidently take charge, inspire, lead and motivate.
    Confidently engage with a diverse range of people and enjoy helping others.
    A strong understanding and of issues that affect people in later life.
    Reliability, consistency and dependability.
    Good conversational and listening skills with a clear speaking voice.
    Patience, empathy and a non-judgemental attitude.
    The ability to work independently but also stay within the role's boundaries – recognising what should and shouldn't be done and when to seek advice or report concerns.

    What training we will provide for you

    Jewish Care will provide the following training, essential for this role: Provide you with access to a Volunteer Handbook and all Policies and Procedures.
    Provide Induction Training: Getting to know Jewish Care, Communication & Disability Awareness, Boundaries & Confidentiality, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, GDPR.

    People who care for others We can only do this thanks to our amazing professional staff of 1,400 and the 3,000 dedicated volunteers who help make our work possible.
