- Assess project requirements, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work and identify potential cost factors.
- Utilize industry knowledge, historical data, and estimating software to prepare accurate and competitive project cost estimates.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather relevant information and ensure alignment between estimates and project goals.
- Prepare detailed and organized bid packages, including cost breakdowns, material quantities, and labour estimates, for submission to clients.
- Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and market conditions to provide up-to-date and competitive estimates.
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and work collaboratively to develop strategies for risk mitigation.
- Engage with clients during the bidding process to clarify project requirements, address inquiries, and build positive relationships.
- Proactively train and transfer knowledge within the department.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the steel fabrication or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experienced in produce accurate, timely, and competitive quotations and tender submissions.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and propose practical solutions.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
