    Description

    Ward 1 is an exciting and fast paced ward that delivers high quality care to children with congenital and acquired heart conditions and their families.


    We provide surgical and medical care as in-patients whilst also facilitating some investigations and medication management on a day case basis, with promoting positive patient experience being at the heart of our care.


    To achieve this we work collaboratively as a multi-disciplinary team together with our Children's cardiac outpatient department, Children's Cardiac Intensive Care unit, Children's Cardiac Specialist Nurses and the wider Children's Hospital here at Leicester Royal Infirmary and across the East Midlands Congential Heart Service network.

    Children's cardiology provides a variety of opportunities for developing your skills and knowledge in this exciting and interesting specialty.

    You will be supported with an induction and orientation tailored to your experience as well be being able to work with our clinical skills facilitator.

    Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluatingprogrammes of evidence-based nursing care to a group of patients.
    Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards ofquality nursing care.
    Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing andsupporting students and learners on placement within the clinicalarea.
    Policy Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.

    Ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the children and their families.
    Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence based nursing care.
    Work closely with the MDT and multiple specialties in order to improve patient care.

    Evidence of willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service
    Registered Nurse - Children's NMC Registration

    Has successfully completed a previous NMC approved teaching and assessing or practice assessor programme or equivalent.

    Relevant clinical experience, newly qualifie/band 5
    Demonstrates knowledge of professional NHS local and national policies
    Demonstrates understanding of quality and change and the importance of new ways of working

    Good basic understanding of importance of delivering high quality care
