Practice Development Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner - Theatres
The successful individual will have a pivotal role in delivering Trust Objectives and ensuring that the care delivered within this specialty reflects the Trust Vision and Values.
The successful candidate must have the ability to provide positive mentoring/coaching and development to the clinical teams within all theatre specialities and act as a role model in all they do.
The successful applicant will be an experienced registered Nurse/ODP with a qualification in mentorship or training, positive teaching style, interest in education, and a good understanding of the Peri-operative Departments.

Act as a supportive professional role model for nursing and midwifery, providing quality care in accordance with the NMC/HCPC rules and codes of practice.
Organisational & Management Responsibilities In conjunction with the Band 7 Practice Development Nurse/Midwife and Band7 practice educator for theatres supports development needs and work in clinical practice to ensure these are met.
Support the promotion and maintenance of a departmental culture which promotes an open and honest approach to professional decision making and problem solving.
Facilitate the development of the Support Worker role both within the hospital ensuring good practice guidance and competency frameworks are in place, fully implemented and evaluated.
Support precepted in clinical practice during and after their preceptorshipprogramme Guide practice by working alongside newly qualified and unqualified staff in the clinical environment to improve patient care outcomes and patient experience.
Utilise information from incidents and complaints to inform practice/educational programmes.
Take all possible action to minimise clinical risk to patients, utilising all available resources.
Where issues of clinical competence are identified, work with the Practice Development Leads/Practice educator and the Theatre managers to develop a plan and provide support in the clinical area.
Educations, Training and Qualifications
NMC/HCPC Registration
At least 2 years post qualification experience in perioperative care
Knowledge and experience of practice development
Ability to deliver training sessions with a variety of styles and resources
experience in theatres at band 6 level
nvolvement with planning/developing nurse/ODP education packages
Experience of implementing service development/change
Computer literacy
Previous Band 6 experience
