    Clinical Psychologist in Paediatrics - Birmingham, United Kingdom - Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust

    Job summary

    We have 2 posts available within our team. These posts could either be appointed to as either a band 7 preceptorship working towards an 8a position, or at an 8a depending upon skills and experience. Responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly. These posts are attached to the Health in Mind Team but will be linked to a specific clinical/medical speciality which funds and values psychology input for their young people and families.

    Main duties of the job

    Do you like working dynamically and influencing the medical context to meet the needs of children and young people?

    Would you like the opportunity to work alongside dedicated medical and psycho-social staff as part of your psychological treatment delivery?

    We have 2 permanent positions available.

    Post 1 is attached to the paediatric psychology branch of the team attached to specific clinical specialties, such as Craniofacial services and Cystic Fibrosis.

    Post 2 is attached to the neuropsychology branch of the team and will involve assessing and providing interventions to young people and families on the epilepsy surgery pathway.

    We are a large team and there are many opportunities for supervision, leadership, peer support and personal development. Candidates will benefit from a range of therapeutic approaches and expertise within the team and we have good links with the University of Birmingham clinical training programme.

    This post provides a great opportunity to consolidate and expand on previous experience of working within health settings and/or children, young people and families.

    The job role provides a variety of ways of working within a dynamic medical setting including 1:1 therapy, working with families, groups for parents and young people and lots of opportunities for indirect working through multi disciplinary teams, contributing to the psychological care planning and supporting/ developing 'psychological mindedness' within teams.

    Essential

  • HCPC accredited doctoral qualification
  • HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist
  • Desirable

  • Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors
  • Post graduate diploma in paediatric neuropsychology
  • Knowledge & Nature Of Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of working with children /adolescents
  • Desirable

  • Experience of working in an inpatient and/or acute health setting`
  • Supervised practice in paediatric neuropsychology
  • A knowledge of neuropsychological literature
  • Analytical and Judgement Skills

    Essential

  • Facilitating clinical decision making & care planning With multi disciplinary professionals
  • Desirable

  • Ability to assimilate a lot of information in a fast paced, highly emotive environment
  • Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge

    Essential

  • Experience of psychological assessments
  • Understanding of specialist psychological literature/ guidelines
  • Ability to use IT to prepare reports
  • Confidence & experience of using Microsoft systems (Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, etc)
  • Confidence and experience with using common NHS IT systems Electronic Patient Record (EPR), Electronic Staff Record (ESR)
  • Experience of neuropsychological assessments
