Ward 11 is a very busy elective surgical ward and our patients need our care and attention 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so everyone gets involved working different shifts to ensure our patients receive the very best care with compassion.
Typically, Ward 11 undertakes a day or night shift:07:00-19:30 & 19:00-07:30.
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for our patients and residents.
You will be entrusted with delivering personalised care to patients and performing a spectrum of clinical duties under the guidance of the team leader/nurse in charge.
From assisting with personal hygiene and toileting to catheter and stoma care, your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of essential tasks.
You must have a willingness to undertake further training E.G. phlebotomy, ECG recording to support the team in the management of patients with acute surgical conditions.We recognise that our staff are our most valuable resource, and we are proud of the excellent levels of service our team provides to our service users and the dedication and professionalism of our staff.

We will invest such a lot in you and your development by supporting you, ensuring you stay up to date with all clinical competencies & from day one you will be supported to achieve further qualifications in healthcare if that's what you want to do, as well as meet the government standards for care within the NHS.
Our initial Care Certificate training is 3 weeks long & full time as there is so much to cram into the time, so you will need to ensure you can attend this, as you cannot start on the Wards without completion of the course.
You will make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things.
Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
Whilst personal care will form a large part of your role, you will also take samples from our patients for testing or dispatching, you'll undertake clinical duties relevant to Ward 11 , such as monitoring patients' vital signs, accurately calculating Early Warning Scores, recognising signs of unwell Patients, and escalating in a timely manner.
Patient safety is in the essence of everything that we do here at the Trust, so maintaining a certain standard of care is so important.
GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade - 9 OR Functional/Key skills level 2 numeracy and Functional/Key Skills level 2 literacyBNCS or NVQ / Internal Level 2 training programme Must be willing to undertake Trust internal Level 3 training programme course
Level 3 QCF diploma (Qualification Credit Framework) in healthcare / NVQ level 3

Previous experience of working in an acute health care or related setting
Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare
Understanding of the role of a band 3 senior HCA
