    Description

    We are looking for a Degree qualified Chemical Process Engineer with a strong focus on Process Safety.

    If you are an experienced individual who enjoys working in a friendly and dynamic engineering team, this opportunity is for you. Based in Middlesbrough, Teesside, with the chance to travel within the UK and potentially abroad, this role offers an exciting prospect to be part of a small yet growing engineering department.

    The ideal candidate should hold a chemical process engineering degree and possess qualifications and experience in process safety methodologies like HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, among others. This position is initially on a one-year fixed term contract.

    What you'll be responsible for:

    • Leading process safety enhancement initiatives across the group, covering current operations, projects, and HSE intervention visit actions.
    • Collaborating with relevant authorities (HSE, EA) on process safety matters, particularly related to COMAH compliance.
    • Acting as the company's technical expert on process design and safety topics.
    • Evaluating current operations to pinpoint areas for process and process safety enhancement.

    Requirements:

    • Relevant degree in chemical process engineering.
    • Extensive training and experience in process safety.
    • Familiarity with regulations like COMAH, DSEAR, etc.
    • Solid IT skills, especially in the Microsoft Office suite.
    • Available for travel when necessary, preferably with own transport.

    Desirable qualifications:

    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, particularly in creating P & IDs and PFDs.
    • Background in the Chlorine or hazardous gas industry would be beneficial.
    • Experience in the personal care industry would also be advantageous.
    • Experience in the Food industry and BRCGS would be a plus.
