Hours: 35 hours per week. Flexibility in working pattern, in agreement with line manager


Based:
The Lodge, Littlemore, Oxford with travel to field sites required. Hybrid working available.

The Joining the Dots Project Officer will contribute to nature's recovery and the conservation of local water vole populations through working to establish new mink control schemes within the three counties, with a particular focus on engaging with and recruiting landowners.


The role sits within the Conservation Strategy Directorate and will work closely with colleagues in the Mammal Team to integrate this new project with our existing Water Vole Recovery Project.

What you'll be doing;

  • Establishing and developing relationships with landowners
  • Training landowners to use mink rafts to monitor and trap mink
  • Undertaking monitoring, trapping and dispatch of mink when necessary
  • Collating trapping data and providing ongoing support to landowners
  • Promoting the project through targeted talks and written articles
What we're looking for;

  • Someone able to work with and enthuse landowners and project partners
  • Mammal trapping, handling and species control skills and knowledge
  • The ability to share knowledge and train others
  • Good knowledge of riparian mammal field signs
  • Ability to rapidly learn new technology and software
