    Description

    Skillsearch is helping a games studio find a Senior Technical Artist to join their growing team near Burton upon Trent. The full-time Senior Technical Artist role comes with a generous salary and benefits package.

    As a Senior Technical Artist, you will define the graphic production pipeline and tool development in Unity and Maya and optimise across the art asset and render pipelines.

    In your first few weeks in this Senior Technical Artist role, you can expect to:

    • Develop custom shaders and graphics solutions
    • Collaborate with the Head of Art, development team Art Leads and the Technical Director to develop and evangelise the graphics production pipeline
    • Drive optimisation to define best working practices and procedures for the art team, evangelising to the team and taking responsibility for the adoption and application of these practices
    • Provide training, technical support and documentation on the tools and engine for the graphics team.

    To apply for this Technical Artist role, you will need a track record working as a technical artist, having released at least one finished game with substantial input and impact on the technical art. You will also require the following:

    • Excellent knowledge of Maya and real-time modelling techniques
    • Knowledge of scripting (Python, mel), C family programming languages and shader programming
    • Detailed understanding of the capabilities and constraints of game engines and different game hardware platforms
    • A passion for games across many genres.

The town is also home to a popular indoor market, which is an integral part of Burton's culture. After extensive recent refurbishments, it features an array of vibrant shops and stalls including local traders and full-sized restaurants. Burton also holds anoutdoor market three times a week, selling locally grown fruit and vegetables as well as flowers and outdoor plants. With two game studios in the area, not including the ones in the surrounding cities, Burton is home to creatives and game enthusiasts and has plenty of opportunities for those in the industry.
