    SSP is a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, with c.42,000 colleagues in over 600 locations across 37 countries.

    We operate sit-down and quick service restaurants, cafes, lounges and food-led convenience stores, principally in airports and train stations, with a portfolio of around 550 international, national and local brands.

    These include our own brands Upper Crust, Millies Cookies etc. as well as franchise brands such as M&S, Starbucks and Burger King.

    About the role This role will lead the allergen management function within H&FS team, including verification of all ingredients, recipe labels and nutritional information.

    The role will manage all internal investigations following any customer complaints and review allergen management processes.

    This role will also work with franchised brands to ensure accurate and timely information of recipes, allergens and nutritional information.

    This role will include working closely SSP teams, including Brands, Data, Health & Safety, Operations, NPD and Supply Chain teams, particularly during cross-checks for new brands and ranges as well as advising on proposed contingency solutionsThis role will manage, measure and audit SSP's suppliers to ensure they comply to all food regulations, including but not limited to, product specifications, allergens and nutritional, food safety, support recipe management from creation to communication.

    This includes ingredients and recipes, as well as any pre-packaged products created for launch.

    The role is key to ensuring SSP is food safe at all times and adheres to current legislation and advises the business on future legislation and advances with a specific focus on allergen management.


    What you'll be doing:

    Validate and verify product specification data on ingredients and nutritional's within the Nutritics system as well as internal systems, especially on new launches, new recipes and recipe changes Support, advise and lead allergen requirements on behalf of the business Audit suppliers, where necessary, especially on bespoke SSP nominated items and especially aligned to new projects and first production runs Work cross functionally and advise on actions and communication to units, locations and brand Review and propose amendments to quality control processes and procedures currently in place and future opportunities and emerging trends Investigating all customer complaints relating to allergens Documenting & detailing all supplier information past, present and future Working on a sampling and auditing programme to roll out within the business to cover various units within the UK Attending cross-checks to ensure all aspects of labelling and descriptions are appropriate and compliant To be successful in this role, you will need to have: Essential:Good analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including senior management Ability to work under pressure and deliver to specific deadlines Degree Qualifications – E.g.

    , Environmental Health, Food Manufacturing, Nutrition or Food Technology Desirable:
    Strong networking skills Experience of a multi-divisional, multi-site environment CSR and Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) knowledge Project Management Experience Member of CIEH, IFST or similar body
