Job Description Working for the Technical Manager, the Methods Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing sound, robust tools, and processes for a high-volume casting manufacture. A core focus of the role will be ensuringthat products are introduced into production on time and to quality using the companies CAD, CAE, and PLM software. Consequently, the Methods Engineer will be required to produce quotations, feasibility reviews, tooling models, process designs, Bills of Materialsand collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on NPI activities. Responsibilities - Complete cost estimations, feasibility reviews and Design for Manufacture proposals.

  • Design and develop tooling for New Product Introductions and Product & Process improvements.
  • Test method concepts through the Casting Simulation Software.
  • Documentation of activities through the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Collaborating with toolmakers on tooling changes and RFQ's.
  • Assisting the Commercial department in order generation and successful bidding.
  • Attending and presenting technical topics at workshops and on conference calls.
  • Assist in the resolution of technical, quality and scrap issues.
  • Assisting quality in improving the customer perception through 8D resolution etc.
  • Create and maintain the companies Bills of Materials within the companies Enterprise Resource Platform.
  • Develop PLM workspaces to enhance the documentation and quality control of our processes.

Qualifications & Skills - Strong, demonstratable technical understanding of foundry methods and processes. (Experience in greensand vertical moulding would be advantageous).

  • Expert in CAD (Preferably Solidworks).
  • Expert in Casting Simulation (Preferably Magmasoft).
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining BOM's
  • Knowledge of CAM and tooling manufacturing would be extremely advantageous.
  • Proficient in the use of PLM or PDM software
  • Proven project management skills would be desirable.
  • Ability to multitask, time manage and work independently.
