Together Kettering and Northampton General continue to collaborate to strengthen hospital services for the whole of Northamptonshire as part of University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN).

The post holder will have responsibility for all of UHN's Digital portfolio on a day-to-day basis and work to our principles of:

The post holder will be required to provide advice on and manage complex technology issues across UHN and contribute to the overall delivery of the UHN Digital Strategy.

All members of the Digital Leadership team will strive towards Applying the culture, processes, business models & technologies of the internet era to respond to people's raised expectations [Tom Loosemore's definition of Digital]

Although this role is Northampton based, we are proud to offer flexibility in how and where we work - having a blend between home working and on-site working is promoted.

The key responsibility is to support the UHN Chief Digital Information Officer with day-to-day digital operational matters, delivering the UHN Digital Strategy, helping progress towards our UHN vision encapsulated in our Dedicated to Excellence strategy.

Contribution to the strategic development, oversight and delivery of the UHN Digital Strategy.

Enabling the adoption and use of digital technology across clinical and support services.

Establishing UHN as a leader in the field of digital health services for the benefit of patients, carers and staff.

Integrating IT systems across UHN to ensure the user experience is positive and clinical activity is maximised i.e. reduce bureaucracy for staff.

Ensuring the effective delivery of secure, effective and efficient digital services.

Supporting the development of a world class health intelligence function that will revolutionise the way we make decisions.

Driving forward system optimisation and integration to enhance user experience and improve productivity.

Collaborate with other Digital and IT leaders across the health and social care system, working to ensure integration to support the UHN Digital Strategy.

Develop a high performing team, embracing Agile methodologies, inclusive people strategies and a user centred approach to the work the team does.

Quality Standards and Governance

Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer ensure the Clinical Divisions have access to accurate and timely clinical care intelligence to support operational delivery of services and prioritisation of resources.

Ensuring UHN complies with all relevant national regulatory standards for digital, information and IT services.

Utilising the principles and tools of the UHN developing quality improvement system and ensure the digital and information services provide appropriate support to facilitate continuous improvement.

Promote the implementation and adoption of the UHN Digital Strategy, in a high complex environment with differing stakeholder needs and priorities, relying on substantial influencing and negotiating skills to reach an appropriate solution.

Communicating in a way that engages people in the digital portfolio transformation in line with UHNs values.

Building effective relationships with operational services to ensure the broader implications of the business and impact are widely understood whilst balancing the need to innovate to lead digital transformation.

Education, Training & Qualifications
Educated to Masters level with a degree or equivalent experience and competencies or extensive relevant senior experience.
Evidence of continuing professional development including management studies to masters level or above or equivalent experience

Qualified at practitioner level of a recognised programme/project management methodology
Agile development qualification, AgilePM, AgileBA, ScrumMaster or equivalent experience
ITIL Expert level qualification

Track record of delivery at Director/Senior management level, including exposure at Board
Track record of delivering large scale change and knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and evidence
Experience in creating integrated digital platforms of online and offline solutions and asset management
Experience of changing an organisation from legacy ways of working to successfully applying agile methodologies

Experience of working at senior level in a large complex organisation (in or outside the NHS) leading on digital, IT and information services
Examples of creation and delivery of innovative digital solutions

Able to interpret complex data and information to inform decision making at Executive level
Able to take difficult and challenging decisions that support strategic aims and long-term vision
Able to create / shape innovative strategic vision and plans for the best possible long-term benefit of patients, the organisation and health and care system
Experience of building staff capacity and capability
Ability to use IT in all aspects of role
Ability to maintain personal resilience and exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence
Ability to travel across multiple sites
Track record of communicating externally (blogging, Twitter, conference speaking) about your professional role and raising the profile of an organisation
