Youth Engagement Officer
Hours: 17.5 hours per week

Salary:
£33, FTE £16,500 pro rata)

We are seeking to recruit a part time or 0.5 Youth Engagement Officer. You will work within and outside the Education Team, alongside colleagues working on the diocesan strategy,
Transforming Church. Together. If you are passionate about advocating for children and young people we would love to hear from you.

This new role you will build relationships with groups of young people through schools and youth groups and systematically collect the voice of young people across the Diocese.

Some aspects of the role will be:

Collecting the voice of young people across the Diocese with particular care taken to ensure the voices of those who are marginalised or at risk of exclusion are heard
Listening and supporting young people to formulate questions which can be taken to governing bodies in the Diocese
Thinking innovatively as to how to create the spaces for young people to have agency to be heard on issues which are important to them
Supporting frameworks of engaging young people through advocacy and partnership working

Desired Skills and Experience:

Familiarity with how children and young people are formed as people and formed in faith
Good understanding of schools and their workings at all levels
Strong proactivity with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Respectful and comfortable with the Christian ethos and objectives that underpin our work
A person of integrity, who is able to build healthy working relationships across a range of different structures
A person committed to the engagement of children, young people and families in the life of faith
A strategic and systematic thinker and planner
