HGV Mechanic
Overview:
Responsibilities:

Planning and Prioritizing Work:
- Assist the Team Leader and Senior Mechanic in organizing and prioritizing training for the team.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks effectively to meet operational requirements.
Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:
- Inspect, repair, and service a wide range of vehicles, small plant, and agricultural equipment including refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, tippers, mowing equipment, small tractors, chainsaws, hedge cutters, strimmers, blowers, etc.
- Carry out MOT tests and retests on class 4, 5, and 7 vehicles.
- Perform taxi tests to the standards set
- Navigate around Bromsgrove and Redditch districts to attend breakdowns and undertake necessary repairs or facilitate vehicle recovery, adhering to Health and Safety procedures.
Flexible Working:
- Be prepared to work a split shift arrangement if required to meet service needs.
- Be prepared to work from either of our two workshops to meet service requirements.
- Provide cover during periods of leave, sickness, emergency works, winter maintenance, and special events as required.
Training and Development:
- Train staff to carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance of plant and machinery, ensuring work is carried out to necessary standards.
Customer Service:
- Investigate and deal with customer inquiries, ensuring excellent customerfocused service.
- Liaise with contractors when required, maintaining positive working relationships.
Driving and Navigation:
- Drive vehicles up to 26 tonnes (LGV).
- Navigate efficiently around Bromsgrove and Redditch districts.
General Tasks:
- Ensure availability of correct equipment, plant, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for job tasks.
- Facilitate reflection time with the team and actively listen to their feedback.
- Complete paperwork and update computer systems accurately.
- Understand customer demand and measures to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Coordinate with specialist services when required.
- Communicate effectively with customers, partners, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Resolve issues within the team and take ownership of customer issues and complaints.
- Escalate unresolved issues to management promptly.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Salary:
£19.71-£24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37 per week
