    Description

    Epoch is a venture-backed technology company that leverages state-of-the-art technologies to make agricultural and forestry supply chains transparent and sustainable. We leverage earth observation and web3 technology to monitor and report on environmental outcomes at the first mile of supply chains and leverage global payment networks to tie premium payments to improvement in measured and quantified sustainability metrics. Not even a year old, we are already post-revenue and have the backing from advisors and investors most specialized and strategic for the space in which we operate.

    Tasks

  • Design and oversee the development infrastructure, ensuring efficient CI/CD processes.
  • Ensure smooth interaction between our fastapi back-end and our ReactJS Front End components.
  • Establish and maintain robust security infrastructure to safeguard our systems and data.
  • Spearhead the recruitment and development of a software engineering team.

    Requirements
  • Deep knowledge of Cloud services, specifically Google Cloud, and how to best leverage them to automate cost-effective workflows using best CI/CD practices.
  • Development of cloud-hosted services such as APIs and web apps, and determine optimally whether to deploy them with serverless or server-based architectures
  • Containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) are a central part of your software engineering toolbox.
  • Proficiency with React JS/Native and its geospatial flavor to build high-performance web map UIs, while ensuring responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Knowledge of and Python for server-side applications is highly desirable
  • Mastery of both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Long-standing experience in git version control, upholding very high standards for clean code and repository structure management. A track record in open-source development is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with geospatial and earth observation data is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the web3 stack as a nice-to-have, and ability to juggle between web2 and web3 concepts depending on use-cases at hand.
  • Tackle complex problems, managing ambiguity effectively and balancing product perfection with timely delivery.
  • Actively participate in the planning, setting, and meeting of project deadlines.
  • A natural affinity for team building and delegation, alongside a hands-on approach to development.
  • Strong planning skills with a track record of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Customer-centric mindset, dedicated to solving their problems effectively. "Fall in love with the problem, not the solution".
  • Open, constructive communication style, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • A proactive approach to product development, aligning with our ethos that no problem is too small or too big.

  • A competitive salary (80k-90k € gross annual depending on seniority) in a lead software role with high degree of decision-making and autonomy on architecture and software design choices
  • 25 days paid leave + bank holidays in the candidate's country.
