Job Title:
Logistics Operative


1 Job purpose


To support the Logistics Manager, with One Team approach, to provide a first class, professional logistics service to client and customers of The British Broadcasting Company within a Corporate/Broadcasting Office environment.

2 Responsibilities

Logistics Operatives will generally specialise in one of the areas specified below.

However, a prime function will be to assist when required and as directed by the Logistics Manager in other areas of the Logistics operation.


General Duties (applicable to all areas):

  • Assist in ensuring the logistics services meets or exceeds the Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators required by the BBC.
  • Manage Work orders in and efficient and timely manner.
  • Provide a professional service by ensuring all Logistic requirements are available to BBC staff during the required service hours;
  • Compliance with all relevant Health and Safety procedures, ensuring the requirements of Health and Safety at Work and Environmental legislation are met at all times;
  • To progress promptly requests for logistic services required by personnel;
  • To maintain the general tidiness, cleanliness and safety of both Internal and External logistic work areas;
  • Delivery of stationary and consumables to hub areas;
  • Carry out any reasonable request from the Logistics Manager, providing it is within the operatives capability and competency;
  • Effectively communicate with all colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the Logistics Service;
  • Provide assistance according to business needs e.g. lunch cover annual leave cover etc.
  • Maintain a professional, polite and considerate manner at all times;
  • Adhere to uniform and presentation standards as per the dress policy;
  • Ensure that customer expectations are met in all buildings whilst embracing the One Team Approach;
  • Make use of the FM Helpdesk service for reporting and faults;

Porterage:

  • Provision of Lift and Shift services to meet the needs of the BBC and their lodgers;
  • Undertaking office moves;
  • Dealing with waste;
  • Conference Room set ups;
  • To maintain the general tidiness, cleanliness and safety of work areas utilised by the logistics personnel;
  • Provide a moving service to ensure all assets and materials directly allocated to staff are properly dismantled, packed and transported and reinstalled at the new location;

Mail and Messenger:

  • Collection and distribution of internal and external mail and packages, secure mail, special and recorded deliveries etc.
  • Provide a receipt and invoicing service, including goods inward checks, storage, packaging, stock control and accounting;
  • To ensure stores are correctly receipted, unpackaged, checked, and stored where required or the BBC client is informed of its arrival.

Printing and Reprographics:
(site dependent)

  • Place orders for printing services on behalf of the BBC and its customers;
  • Execute express printing requests;
  • Provide advice on all printing, photocopying, binding and related services;
  • Arrange specialist printing services;
  • Operate high volume photocopiers and specialist printing equipment
  • Delivery of completed printing output
  • Collection of customers printing requirements.
  • First line maintenance of copiers and the coordination and management of external maintenance.
  • Operation of large format printers and copiers.
  • Provide a finishing service for documents including guillotining, drilling and binding.
Conferencing and Events

  • Set up managed meeting rooms for meetings
  • Set up event space

3 Person, Knowledge skills & experience

Able to communicate well;
Flexible working approach;
High level of personal integrity;
Ability to work under pressure;
Can work independently and with limited supervision;
Previous experience in a customer facing environment;
Manual Handling Skills;
Health and Safety, QA and Environmentally aware;
