The Supply Room, an education recruitment agency, is currently seeking passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support schools in Bristol.
We are seeking individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to students with a range of learning difficulties, disabilities, or other special needs.
Working under the guidance of the classroom teacher and SENCO, your primary role will be to assist and facilitate the inclusion and development of students with SEN in mainstream classrooms.
Your duties may include, but are not limited to:- Providing oneonone or small group support to students with SEN
- Assisting students with specific tasks, such as reading or writing
- Supporting students with personal care needs, if required
- Ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of students
- Assisting in the implementation of IEPs and EHCPs and behaviour management strategies
- Liaising with the classroom teacher, SENCO, and other professionals involved in the students' care
- Monitoring and recording student progress
You must be available to start ASAP, or in Term 3 and available to work full school hours Monday to Friday.
Required Knowledge of SEN Strategies:
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of special educational needs and relevant strategies.
Knowledge surrounding some of following areas is essential:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Speech, Language and Communication difficulties
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties
Additional Information:
- A minimum of 6 months experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, working with children with SEN, is desired.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning certificate, or equivalent, are highly beneficial.
- A strong academic background, including GCSEs in English and Mathematics, is required.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different settings and with different age groups where appropriate.
