    Assistant Collection Manager:

    Collection Care
    Full-time, 41 hours per week (including one hour paid lunch break)
    Permanent
    £Assistant Collection Managers in the Loans & Display team are responsible for all practical aspects of care and preservation of the British Museum collection with a primary focus on the framing, packing and display of 2D works.

    Assistant Collection Managers may also be responsible for the packing, handling and display of other objects lent to venues in the UK and internationally.

    Problem solving is a key aspect of the role, and a flexible approach to working is essential.
    To observe best practice in all aspects of object handling and collection storage.


    • To facilitate the movement, packing and display of 2D works and objects across the collection.
    • To use tools and workshop equipment in the delivery of framing, frame making, object packing and installation activity.
    • To follow Integrated Pest Management procedures.
    • To act as courier on UK and international loans and carry out any Known Consigner training and duties as required.
    Experience of framing, installation and packing 2D artworks is essential.


    • Demonstrable interest in aspects of the Museum's collections,
    • object or art handling and installation
    • familiarity with databases; full UK driving licence; forklift licence
