    About the Role:


    As a Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 3) at our Oakleigh Depot within the Street Scene Service Directorate, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and repairing the council's vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, lease company standards, and manufacturer guidelines.


    Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you'll undertake maintenance tasks efficiently to meet service obligations while adhering to safety protocols and cost-effectiveness.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in delivering efficient Transport Workshop Service, including maintenance of the council's fleet and third-party vehicular and plant fleet.
    • Ensure compliance with regulations, council policies, and performance standards.
    • Conduct MOT Tests (Class 4, 5 & 7) as the council's designated VOSA MOT Station Nominated Tester.
    • Provide administrative and IT support for Transport Workshop operations.
    • Inspect, test, service, and repair vehicles, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with legislation.
    • Diagnose faults, estimate repair costs, and recommend remedial action.
    • Manage documentation and compliance with council procedures.

    Requirements:

    • NVQ 3 or IMI 3 Heavy Motor Vehicle qualification.
    • Experience as an EV Technician, with a focus on electric heavy trucks preferred.
    • Accreditation as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector (VOSA) and Nominated Tester (MOT Class 4 to 7).
    • Current vocational LGV Category C driving licence (HGV 2) preferred.
    • Proficiency in computer systems such as Excel, Word, and FleetwaveTM.
    • Intermediate welding skills and/or Motor Vehicle Electrical Skills.
    • Ability to work split shifts, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
    • Commitment to health & safety regulations and continuous improvement.
