    Overview of the role:

    As a result of growing demands for our award winning range of diesel and hydrogen engines, we are seeking a talented Senior Calibration Engineer, who is looking for an opportunity to further their career at the cutting edge of powertrain control systems.

    This role is based at our engine research and development centre in Derbyshire, UK.

    Your Responsibilities as a Senior Calibration / Calibration Engineer:

    Candidates should have a track record in calibrating IC engine and aftertreatment calibration systems with experience of off-highway, heavy duty or automotive electric/electronic systems, including Tier I supplier engine management systems and model-based engine control.

    Typical responsibilities include:

    o Calibration of engine control parameters across a range of medium duty off-highway diesel and Hydrogen IC engines in the areas of:

    o Intake throttle, turbo charger and EGR control

    o Transient fuelling compensation

    o Lambda observer based feedback correction

    o Air and fuel, temperature and pressure plausibility diagnostics

    o Modelling of engine pollutant generation and aftertreatment accumulation / regeneration

    o Calibration design and validation using simulation models

    o Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing

    o Machine integration engine calibration activities, including climatic testing

    o Calibration database management

    o Writing development plans and engineering reports.

    o Supervision of junior engineers & technicians

    Desired Skills and Experience:

    o A strong engineering background and a Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

    o Detailed knowledge of diesel or gasoline engine fundamentals, aftertreatment systems and their application

    o Familiarity with control strategy guide and software documentation is desired

    o Candidate should have a strong interest and experience in emissions control technology

    o Candidate should be familiar with dynamometer testing environment (control systems, test automation, emissions measurement)

    o Experience in 'application' environment development and testing would be advantageous

    o Familiarity with global emissions standards

    o Familiarity with 1D engine simulation tools

    o Familiarity with model-based calibration methods
