    JOB TITLE: Chief Executive Officer

    SALARY: £45,000 per annum

    BASE: Petershill Sports Complex, Glasgow

    REPORTS TO: Board of Trustees

    About us

    Partick Thistle Charitable Trust

    Works as an independent charity established in July 2011 to use the Partick Thistle name to engage, support and empower our communities through the promotion of health and well-being, football, education, citizenship and inclusion, primarily within our local community.

    We have already made a huge impact in many people's lives through our different initiatives and the organisation has gone from strength to strength, not only in the development of participants but also the Trust as a whole has outdone expectations.

    Partnership Working

    We encourage collaboration and meaningful partnerships across all areas of its activity and has strategic alliances in place that are necessary to achieve the organisational purpose. This includes good working relations with other sector intermediaries, local authorities and with the private sector which extends the organisation's reach and further supports its mission.

    Our strategy is reviewed regularly and focuses around 3 key areas:

    • Make a positive contribution to the communities of (North) Glasgow by promoting good citizenship, respect and inclusion for all.
    • Improve the health and well-being of the citizens of (North) Glasgow.
    • Develop a financially sustainable charitable trust that is wholly effective in delivering our Mission

    The opportunity

    The CEO will have responsibility for the strategic leadership and the day to day running of the Charity. The key activities and skills for each are below:

    DEVELOPMENT

    • To input on the development of a strategic refresh, setting forth a new five-year vision for the Trust
    • To assist the Trustees on the consideration of a "social enterprise" arm of the Trust
    • To manage the legal, corporate and safeguarding governance of both the Trust's "social enterprise" and "charitable arm"
    • Develop and implement a marketing strategy to promote both the "social enterprise" and "charitable" aspects of the Trust
    • Creating an environment where innovation and creativity flourish
    • To work closely with the Board, to describe, communicate, enable, measure and evolve the culture and values of the Trust.
    • To personally embody the agreed, unique and compelling values of the Trust.
    • Build a strong relationship with the local community.
    • Liaise with other community organisations to enhance partner working.
    • Increase the profile of the Trust within local and national business communities
    • Manage relationships with the SPFL Trust, SFA and the national football community
    • Develop and manage a bespoke partnership agreement with Partick Thistle Football Club
    • Develop the staff and the Trust within the aims and objectives of the organisation

    MANAGEMENT

    • The ability to lead the Trust as the CEO with empathy
    • The ability to communicate the Trust's story convincingly with passion and personality
    • Trusted as a CEO who will deliver, especially having a first class relationship with funders (in an environment where funding is more challenging with more emphasis on quantifying impact)
    • The ability to relate with/manage the range of stakeholders involved with the Trust
    • The ability to present and manage reporting of key information to the Board of Trustees on a Quarterly basis
    • Motivating all staff to deliver great outcomes, and exceptional service levels
    • Running the various staff teams with the required processes around objective setting, performance management, management to deadlines
    • The ability to prioritise, delegate and manage time effectively
    • Have a good understanding of key aspects of financial management including the key levers to impact performance and the key financial risks to the Trust
    • To be accountable for identifying, communicating and mitigating the overall strategic risks for the Trust, including the maintenance of an appropriate level of unrestricted reserves.
    • Accountable for ensuring all parts of the Trust's operation and all employees, understand and comply with the relevant legal standards and requirements – as appropriate by activity and function.
    • Accountable for the quality and experience as well as safety of all who engage with the services and activities of the Trust.
    • To act as senior contact between the Trust and the regulator OSCR.
    • Main contact for any governance/ legal / compliance / insurance issues.
    • Manage senior members of staff to ensure roles & responsibilities are being fulfilled to a high standard.
    • Ensure the smooth flow of information around the staff team, including action monitoring to achieve deadlines and project milestones.
    • Conduct team meetings including preparation of meeting papers and agenda.
    • Ensure that the organisation is adequately resourced and that appropriate I.T. support is in place to maintain the operation.
    • Ensure all PVG Records are up to date for all staff members.
    • Conduct staff supervision. Record and store training and development information for staff

    COMMERCIAL

    • To initiate and drive a new commercial strategy for the Trust's "social enterprise"
    • To lead a national drive to increase corporate engagement, instigating new relationships based on corporate social responsibility
    • Instigate a fundraising strategy to establish a calendar of bespoke events
    • Establish and develop Petershill Park as the home of a new "Business Club" offering corporate engagement opportunities for Trust partners.
    • Oversee and be responsible for management and budgeting of the Trust.
    • Identify commercial opportunities for the Trust and the facility
    • Overall responsibility for grant funding and income generation.
    • Review budgets and expenditure as necessary and prepare monthly reports and other data as required for Board meetings and annual reports.

    PROGRAMMES

    • Oversee, ensure smooth running of all Trust events.
    • Oversee marketing of Trust and any events.
    • Creating a service referral process.
    • Update social media, create content for social media/share success stories.

    Person Specification Qualifications and Experience

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
    • Experience of public, third sector or commercial organisations
    • Significant demonstrable experience in strategy development
    • A demonstrable commitment to achieving results and striving for excellence
    • Significant management experience and a successful track record of:
    • Strong commercial performance
    • Successful funding applications
    • Motivating and leading management teams and staff
    • Marketing and business development
    • Managing change
    • Experience of developing and managing relationships with high-level stakeholders
    • Experience of working with a Board of Directors
